Emily Jameson, New Professional Development Coordinator

My name is Emily Jameson, and I am new to ESU 10's Professional Development department. I am so excited about all the new possibilities and growth opportunities ahead!

I grew up here in Kearney and moved to Lincoln to study Elementary Education at UNL. Upon graduation, I taught first grade at Meadow Lane Elementary School in northeast Lincoln. While working there, I had the opportunity to teach students from literally all over the world! There are about 15 different languages spoken by the families of Meadow Lane, and I loved working with them because it was such an enriching experience. Serving ELL students became a passion of mine, and so I decided to go back to school to better learn how to meet their unique needs. I recently graduated from Doane College with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an ELL endorsement.

Moving back to Kearney after an eight-year absence feels like I have come home! Both my parents and my husband's parents still live here, and being closer to family is such a blessing.

In addition to the big changes of moving back to Kearney and starting my new job, my husband and I recently welcomed our first child, Kayla Marie, into our family. She is almost four months old, and I already can hardly imagine what life could possibly have been like without her!

I also enjoy photography, scrapbooking, running, volunteering, playing the piano and travelling. In all honesty, though, I haven't really done much of any of those since Kayla's arrival, with the exception of photography - can you guess my favorite subject for photo sessions?

Thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming and kind as I begin this new endeavor. I am really looking forward to working here at ESU 10!
