ESU 10 in Kearney will host area high schools students at the Sixth Annual Build a Computer Day on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The ESU 10 technology training team along with technology majors from UNK will provide assistance to students as they build their computers. Participants will gain a better understanding of the working components of a computer and become familiar with Web 2.0 tools that support both education and personal use. In addition to building a computer, students will install "Ubuntu," an open source Linux-based operating system. The open source system provides numerous applications similar to what the students use on either the PC or Mac platforms. Students will also be introduced to video capture programs to create digital "help" videos.
Similar events are planned by the ESU 10 technical team at ESU 6 in Milford and ESU 16 in Ogallala.
