As we continue to expand our program of services to meet the needs of our many and varied publics, Educational Service Unit 10 has once again outgrown its building. The ESU 10 governing board has approved a building project that will add a 13,000 square feet addition just south of our current facility. This addition will be joined to the current structure.
The new addition will primarily house the Network Information Services Department. Space currently used by that group will be expanded and inhabited by the Professional Development Department. The space where the Professional Development Department currently resides will be remodeled to house Special Education Department staff. The Administrative Department will stay in its current location.
We plan to break ground some time in May and have the addition substantially completed by November 2, 2008. The two other remodeling phases will then begin. Staff must move to their new location before remodeling can begin in the existing building areas. Everyone should finally be relocated by the Christmas holidays.
The project will be financed through the ESU 10 general budget. A loan through Wells Fargo Bank will be used to help equalize payments over the next three years to maintain the proper cash flow needed to provide the program of services requested by area schools.
We apologize in advance for any inconveniences to visitors once this project gets into full swing, but we look forward to being better able to meet schools' needs when all the building and remodeling dust has settled. This is an exciting time for all of us - ESU 10 employees and board members and the districts we are here to serve!
