ESU 10 Board Election District Change
Submitted by:
Dr. Wayne A. Bell
Administrator, ESU 10
The Nebraska Unicameral enacted into law LB 603 during the 2007
legislative session. Section 15 of this bill directs each ESU to divide
its territory into 5 to 12 numbered districts beginning December 31,
2007. The purpose of such division is to elect members to the board in
compliance with 32-553. This statute mandates that election districts
shall be compact and contiguous and substantially equal in population.
It begins with the nomination and election of ESU board members during the November 2008 general elections.
The terms of members elected in 2008 to represent odd-numbered election districts established pursuant to section 15 shall start in January of 2009 expire in 2011. The terms of members elected in 2008 to represent even-numbered election districts established under the section shall expire in 2013. Successors to the members elected in 2008 shall be elected for terms of four years. Candidate filing forms for these offices can be obtained from the office of the Nebraska Secretary of State.
The current fifteen member governing board of ESU 10 has divided its
territory into nine (9) election districts. A map of the new Educational
Service Unit 10 Governing Board Election Districts is included for your
perusal.
